brianthedog
If you are not a local expect some strange looks. Too bloody right. I used to live there and because I don't have a strong accent I was treated like an alien. I personally hate the place - glad I moved on!
BasilRathbon
When you get to a certain age, a saturday night out in Chapeltown means hanging around Asda 5 minutes before they close, waiting for them to put the "reduced to clear" items on sale. Grandad.Malky
You sound like one that as moved on from hanging around the petrol station and take-aways.
BasilRathbon
You sound like one that as moved on from hanging around the petrol station and take-aways. Well you have to. It starts to look sinister when you're in your 40s.
Grandad.Malky
Well you have to. It starts to look sinister when you're in your 40s. That’s alright, as the oldest in the group you could get the booze and cigs
Bruno
haha Escape is good on a Sat night, and the Oak and Coach are good. Avoid Scandals (the Waggon it's now called) at all costs! People do actually go in all the pubs ya know lol, at present Chapeltown is quiet on a Saturday night.
surfinjim
Escape - contemporary establishment, complete with food. Not much trouble of late. Chapeltown Working Mens Club- Imagine any working mens club but set in the 1970's. (A bit like "Life on Mars"), although now smoke free! The Waggon - Imagine Brannigans or Yates Wine lodge circa 1992, when they'd been open about 2 years and the wall paper was starting to flake and the carpets started to look a bit stained. That's the Waggon now, that is! Royal Oak - nice tidy proper pub. Coach and Horses - Have you seen American Werewolf in London? You know that pub near the start of the film, "The slaughtered Lamb". Imagine that with karaoke. Commercial - a 5 minute walk away from the "hub" of Chap. Nice pub, sells real ale. Jim
