New club in Sheffield: what would you like to see?

There is an abundance of RnB/dance style bars and clubs in Sheffield. Infact, they are the majority, which is sad. The only real place for rockers and alternative-types to go is Casbah (which is normally empty) and Corp (which is cool, but gets boring). So, ideally, I'd like to see another rock/alternative club just to give us a bit of a change from the afore-mentioned. Although, I know this has been tried and failed :(

Oh god please somewhere other than corp!! Somewhere that doesn't play the same setlist week in and week out till it actually becomes a joke!

I know loads of regular corpers that go only because there's no where else... and we're a well behaved bunch, i promise!

And the rock crowd are generally a lot better behaved and have a lot less attitude than the dance music/clubber kind of crowd.... in my opinion!

Could you expand on your statement please? Its jsut i have seen far far more fights in rock venues than clubbing venues over the years so i would say that thats incorrect.

Yea, the only time I've seen fights in rock venues is when (a) non-rockers have gone there just to cause trouble with the rockers (i have seen this a few times at Corporation and Casbah) and (b) when they are friendly fights, ie, moshing or hardcore dancing, which is not really fighting.... I would say the majority of trouble is caused in/outside the dance/rnb clubs by a minority of "chav"-type troublemakers. Y'know, the people who intentionally go out just to start fights and cause trouble? And the amount of abuse I have to endure off these people just for the fact I wear a leather jacket, look a bit scruffy and have long hair. Veering off the subject there, but it had to be said.

I think you're being fast and loose with your groupings together there - not all non rockers are dance fans.. Its true that you dont get much fighting at rock pubs/clubs (though i have seen a few fights and not always from "non-rockers") - but I'd say you get far less at underground dance venues - I cannot speak for R&B/bassline venues as I never go - but sady their repuatation would suggest maybe they arent so chilled...

BTW Strangely I cannot recall the last time I got grief about having long hair (which I've had since I was 16.. quite some time ago...!) in Sheffield

No thats interesting mate, as i have expierenced the complete opposite when i have been out, In the specialised dance clubs (gatecrasher etc etc) i have only ever seen a couple of fights yet when i have been to rock venues in rotherham and sheffield i have sene plenty of them.

Were leaving R+B clubs out of this as i agree with what you say- they attact troublemakers and idiots.

A proper caberet club would do well in the centre of sheffield- good food- varied acts, small booths, awesome!

Oooh, I like that idea! Thre's loads of people who would go to that, save the nights being dotted all over the smaller venues around sheffield.
