The 4th Annual Sheffield Adventure Film Festival

27 Feb until 1 Mar 2009

Showroom Cinema, Sheffield

In 2006, 2007 and 2008 100% of the audience said they would come back again and recommend it to a friend. 2009 is bigger and it’s better than ever before. Why?

Without a shadow of a doubt the best line up of adventure films and climbing speakers ever put together over a single weekend, anywhere, ever! What’s more, it takes place in the biggest independent cinema outside of London, also voted best cultural venue in the region.

ShAFF Film Competition: The 50 or so films include award winners from Kendal, Banff, Graz, Trento, Telluride, Edinburgh, Vancouver, Llanberis and some that haven’t even been screened yet. If you’re short of time you’ll be able to watch blocks of films themed to suit your tastes. If you have time on your hands get yourself a day-film pass.

ShAFF On The Edge: Around during the week beforehand? Get yourself down to ShAFF On The Edge at Café Euro on John Street, our fringe event, where you can watch films for free, yes, for free! Not sure what to watch, then use the festival’s acclaimed online film selection wizard.

Jagged Globe Lectures: Chris Sharma (introduced by Jerry Moffatt), Ron Fawcett interviewed by Ed Douglas, Adele Pennington, Robert ‘Mads’ Anderson, Alastair Lee, Gaz Parry, John Arran, Niall Grimes.

The Great British Grade Debate with the BMC: Jerry Moffatt, John Arran, John Dunne, James Pearson, Steve McClure, Lucy Creamer, Dave Birkett, Nick Sellars, Jack Geldard & Nick Colton (chair).

Presenters / Judges: Ian Parnell, Niall Grimes & Katherine Schirrmacher.

Climbing Works Party: Live bands and DJ’s from Saturday afternoon through till the early hours in the Showroom bar and restaurant.

World Premiere of Ed Luke’s ‘Rock Stars’ photo exhibition featuring portraits of many of the UK’s top climbers.

Also in the pipeline: Trials bikes displays, urban orienteering event, youth audience development scheme, film pitching workshop.
