gres E
Did anyone work at W E Burnand on Leadmill Rd. during 1961/62? I started work there straight from school in ,61, and what a shock! The place was a dump. The main room would fill up with smoke when coils were being burnt out of motors and water ran down the back wall when it rained. Remember Jester the Tester? Or Dennis Snaithe? Popsicles42
Yes, I worked there from 1958 to sometime in the 60's. I'll have to think hard about it but I think I left about 61 to work elsewhere but returned to finish my apprenticeship about 1963. Initially I workrd in the fitters/ machine shop then as an armature and stator winder. I seem to remember a foreman named Ted ? I had a mate called Barry Wink. I do remember it being very cold in the winter, we had to warm our tools on pot bellied stoves, and the river, the Porter I think, flooding and running down the shop floor.
