Ade65
Hi, Got some friends popping over for a Saturday afternoon drink, but having not been in town on a Saturday afternonoon session, just wondering where will be a suitable meeting place for people coming from the station. I'm thinking of the Globe, the Surry or the Old Monk as meeting places - are any of these particularly bad spots to start? Cheers
OlDog
I think it might depend if Wednesday or Utd are at home and who they are playing....
dacrlit
The Old Monk or Brown Bear are good places to go. The Surrey is another name. The Globe is okay as well. Why not that The Howard?

Yog Sothoth
If close to the station is what you want, try the Red Lion. Howard is ok-ish. Globe is a student house with beer. Old Monk is a barn replica of a pub.
dacrlit
OK if you are a lager sheep. The Surrey (Old Name) and The Old Monk, have Real Ale on as well, which is very good.
Sharp87
The Old Monk sometimes has 1 pump on in my experience, but usually its off.
Yog Sothoth
Red Lion usually has 3 or 4 real ales. Go to the Dove and Rainbow or the Old Queen's Head both of which are pretty close.
Sharp87
I totally forgot about Old Queens Head. Go there for sure, closest pub to the station as well.
