Slag heaps Cricket Inn Rd/Woodbourn Rd/Manor Lane junction?

Can anyone shed any light on whether there were two huge slag heaps, for a time in the early 70's, at the junction of Crickett Inn Rd/Woodbourn Rd/Manor Lane?

My mum says there were, although i always thought that these two slag heaps were at the bottom of Fence nr Woodhouse Mill.

I remember as a kid, my dad driving between them both on our way fishing on a Sunday to the River Trent at Dunham.

The road meandered inbetween them and then we travelled from there up a hill, which could have been Manor Lane or Sheffield Rd, Fence.

They then disappeared and were never seen again.

Does anyone recall what i'm referring to?

Thanks.:help:

There was a post earlier on in the month where someone was asking about Cowlishaws pond in the same area, the slag heaps were actualy on manor lane and if you walked down the path at the side of them you came to the pond, there was a myth that if you fell into the cracks that were on the slag heaps you were never seen again which means I should have died when I was about 7 years old.

There were a couple of slag heaps at the beginning of Cricket Inn Rd. These must have been removed, or perhaps become part of, what is now the Parkway

As far as i have been told, we used to travel past the abbatoir on Cricket Inn Rd and when we reached the top of Woodbourn Rd area, the road on to Manor Lane went inbetween two slag heaps.

This must have been either very late 60's or first year or two of the 1970's.

I thought these slag heaps were at the bottom of Sheffield rd, Fence, just before Swallownest.

My mum say's they were at the bottom of Manor Lane.

Yes, there were two tips at The Nunnery Colliery. In the photo, they are in the top right hand corner with Woodbourn Road curving round in front of them.
