Anyone tried acupuncture for psoriasis?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone actually tried this and have they found it successful?

I've suffered with psoriasis at varying levels nearly all my life and am currently suffering an inexplicably bad (and painful) patch. I'm awaiting a hospital referral but would appreciate any 'home remedy' advice in the mean time.

I've been through all the creams and ointments and moisturisers the Doctor can give and nothing has much effect. I'm open to any suggestions!

I've suffered on and off for a long time. In my case, managing the stress in my life is a key factor. Not an easy thing to do, but if you identify the controllable stress factors in your life and do something about them that will help. Other ways of alleviating the problem are getting plenty of sunlight on your skin, although this is not without risk, and avoiding chemical contamination. For example, I always shower after a bath, just in water. This removes any soap residues and reduces my problems. you are probably stuck with the problem for life, as I am. All you can do is minimise your problems.

The wife`s had it since she was about 14, she`s 47 now. We bought a special sun bed for her with special medical tubes in it and it works wonders but with all sun beds there`s risks so she has to limit the use to so many times a year. Like the other post says identifying stress areas is a big thing. Hers flairs up if she`s run down too.

never tried acupuncture but have had the chemo baths and light treatment in the hallamshire hospital,it worked for a while

Are you referring to PUVA treatment? I had this at 17 and it worked! I had completly clear skin for a whole month! Sadly, bit by bit it returned and I just don't think I could go through all the hassle of that treatment again.

How much was this sun bed and where did you get it from? Light therapy has been the only thing that's ever really worked for me. Unfortunetly, unsurprisingly, I'm reluctant to even wear short sleeves let alone get my legs out in the sun. I'm well aware of the risks and have never used sun beds out of medical treatments.

Thanks for the help guys. I got this at 6 and it's been an ongoing struggle. I know I will never be free but I need to try something new as it's getting me down just how bad it has become.

The only time mine disappeared was at the end of a fortnight in Malta one August. Soon came back like a bad penny.

You're carrying a lot of anger. Have you tried letting it go?

I admit SF won't be enjoyable without your unique sense of moral rectitude, but your health is more important.

Your could try acupuncture, that is if you don't mind getting felt up by some Far Eastern birds

read my other thread mate. I've not been putting stuff like that on here. I only use this for my plastering business! I was wondering why I had over 400 posts.

had it for about 20 years tried all sorts of creams & lotions without much success

aloe vera will help both the cream & and juice was put on methatrexate 10-14 years ago and this keeps it clear but have to have blood tests every 3 month because it can damage the kidneys or liver as yet no problems see what the specialist says when you go aslo had steriods which were only parcially successful
