nubile Posted January 24, 2012 Share Posted January 24, 2012 The chances of seeing the Northern lights from Sheffield are infinitesimal, we are just too far South. The sighting i had around 20 years or so ago was pure luck and i doubt it'll be repeated in my lifetime. Even the rest of the astronomers present at the time argued it must be fireworks in the distance due to the rarity of sightings this far South.
