AltyOwl
planning application can be found here- looks good! http://planningdocs.sheffield.gov.uk/WAM/showCaseFile.do?councilName=Sheffield+City+Council&appNumber=09%2F00602%2FFUL I think it really is a daft idea. You will never fill it. Look at Hillsborouh for example. We'd only sell out to the big clubs in the premiership. Waste of money

al_partridge
Allegedly McCabe is looking towards England being chosen to host a future world cup (2014?) and BL being used for some of the games. 2018, the 2014 tournament has already been confirmed as being in Brazil. Is it really worth spending millions on a bigger ground just on the offchance that it could host 3 group games in a World Cup? Plenty of blades on here go on about us playing in a half empty stadium, and the expanses of empty seats - yet that's exactly what you'd be doing week in week out. Rocklegend
I agree but the improved kop wouldn't hold that many more,it would have better facilities, more legroom,no posts in the way etc.
al_partridge
I think the capacity requirement to host a World Cup game is at least 40,000 so if you wanted to host then you'd have to raise the capacity anyway.

From what ive heard we are extending the Kop anyway, leaving us with better facilities etc which is much needed as that part of the ground is by far of the poorest quality, and if we establish ourselves in the Premier League we will be extending the south stand leaving us with a 40,000 + capacity. I am very happy with what they will be doing to the Kop though.
MR BENN
is it mainly the internal facilities they are improving then ?
SteveBlade
is it mainly the internal facilities they are improving then ? They are putting a few thousand on the back of the Kop, which if ive heard correctly will make it the biggest Kop in England, ahead of Anfield? and will also be removing the pillars and yes the internal facilites will be improved, pictures are on here: http://www.sufc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10418~1176287,00.html
