Gravydownshi
I lived in Lindsay Avenue, Parson Cross around 1960,when I was 10 yrs old, and just lately have been trying to figure out the names and type of shops that were there for no other than nostalgic reasons... I have come up with these results so if anyone can put right any mistakes or add to the list in any way I will be grateful. 1. Hursts (sweets) ....May have been Hirsts 2 (Spare land at this time) 3 Jowseys Fruit Shop 4 Jowseys Chip Shop 5 Colliers (cooked meats and penny ice lollies) 6 Gilberts (Paper Shop) 7 The Post Office 8 (Spare land again) 9 Co-ops Butchers 10 Co-op The name Burgins rings a bell but maybe this was a later replacement for one of the above?
