So how can the government fiddle the unemployment lists this time around ?

Recommended Posts

Also people in the public sector who have been made redundant and got redundancy pay and therefore are not able to claim are discouraged from registering as unemployed.

A growing number...............

Yep, started going up again despite all their efforts to massage the figs down

most of the public sector redundancies haven't started yet.

Record number in work in UK, claimant count plunges

The number of people in work in Britain hit an all-time high late last year, highlighting the continued resilience of the labour market in the face of a stagnant economy.

The number of people in work rose to 29.730 million in the three months to December, the highest since records began in 1971, the Office for National Statistics said on Wednesday.

Unemployment benefit claims also fell much more than expected in January.

Most of the new jobs are just part-time low paid service sector jobs.

I guess the growth in shelf-stackers has finally petered out.

Looks like this government is doing better than the last lot.

Surely this is easily explained by us all having to work longer these days.

I can no longer retire at 65, so that would mean one more person in employment and given around 120000 people retire each year then there's more older people in work and fewer younger ones.

I can't forgive this government for making me work these extra years!!!!!
