Tap and Barrel's old name

Recommended Posts

It went from Bull and Mouth to Boulogne Mouth, to Tap and Spile. Rumour has it that it was originally Bouolgne Mouth after some military engagement but nobody could pronounce it, so it became Bull and Mouth, then somebody tried (unseuccessfully) to revert.

Glad to be of help. being a right anorak about boozer names and signs, I've even bored the world to death with a couple of books (photographic) with Sheffield and Derbys pub signs, called "Ale & Arty". How sad is that?
