Greasy veras

I new Vera and her family. Lovely lady, sort of adopted me and my kids as I was on my own with three of them. Didn't know her when she had the van though, but heard a few stories from her. She passed away in the 80s, bless her, and was really missed.

My sister and her mates used to go there after the clubs turned out. Very well known and great sarnies. I've had a few of those !!

We used to go in the early 70`s after the night clubs had chucked out at 2am. Sausage and egg was my fave, while hubby enjoyed bacon and tom. It was always full of police in their cars having a middle of nightshift snack.

Yes and jumping the queue, I wasn't going to tell them, they thought they were the Sweeney

As I said in another thread I've been to many Greasy Vera's around the U.K some with the same name (Colchester), the very worst was in Leicester i would drop in walking home two in the morning always a wonder i made it without coming down with a case of food poison, but after eating garbage for so many years i could handle just about anything
