I don't know at what yr frank sang that song ...

I don't know either, but we had it on a 78 with the Brunswick label that was looking well-worn by the time I used to play it in c. 1955, so it could have been of 1930s vintage. Not 100% sure it was Frank Luther but it could have been, as he was recording then. The fairy tale itself, Norwegian in origin, had been "doing the rounds" for many years until it was put to music - the traditional theme of "wait for my brother - he's bigger and fatter than me" etc.

... 'Cigareets,Whusky, and Wild, Wild, Women', which was a favourite of my grandfather.

I'd almost forgotten that one, but I just enjoyed hearing it again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7T7yhYJrJ2U

My grandfather took exception with the neighbours who insisted on making a racket when he was supposed to be asleep after working nights. On one of his days off he put the record player on to play the record, 'When You've Got Friends And Neighbours', on continuously, turned the speakers to the party wall, turned the wick up and went out for the day. He never had a problem after that.

It was indeed Johnny Duncan, in 1957 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9GsiGCWIVg

I think there was more than one recording of this, but for Vernon Dalhart's version go to http://www.andmas.co.uk/radio/children/childfav.html and click on "Runaway Train".
