The Future’s Bright. The Future’s Funk

Back in 2005, a certain club night settled itself into The Earl on Queens Rd and made itself at home for a series of monthly parties with one real aim: good times for good people.

Its motto, ‘a safe little corner in a big, bad world’ was an apt one. Word spread, as is often the case, with friends telling friends who told their friends, until the last Saturday of the month became something of a social gathering for like-minded individuals. People who liked beats, breaks, techno, funk and electro. Above all, people who liked to party without prejudice. This was Future Funk.

The night evolved, grew, and spread its wings - spawning separate club nights and moving to the higher capacity DQ to cater for demand. And then it was gone. Where? Who knows. Certainly not those whose sole purpose in life was living for that monthly party.

And now it’s back.

Four years since it was last at The Earl, Future Funk returns to its spiritual home on May 2 for a bank holiday all nighter of epic proportions. Same ethos, same names, same good times for good people. Why? Just because. Once again offering a safe little corner in a big, bad world.
