geocol
Boarding a bus in Copenhagen, my travelling companions and I initiated a discussion as to whether we neded to buy another ticket, or whether the ones we had from the last journey still covred us. The bus driver replied : "Get on, anyone from Yorkshuire can travel free on my bus"! Transpired he was from Leeds, and gone out there and married a Danish girl . aziman
I know there is probably already a thread that has addressed this but I was in a Shop in Blue Ash, Ohio, USA last week and someone walked up to me and said "Are you from Sheffield". Of course I took it as a great compliment I have been out of Sheffield 18 years but also, it must be a distinctive accent. Anyone else had a similar experience? when i worked in USA, they loved my accent, a few click i was from yorkshire.
Bonj
My story, 'First Job', was reviewed as "Very difficult to understand but very funny" by several people so I had to tone down the Sheffield accents a bit to widen its readership outside of the Peoples Republic. Its at http://www.birkett.yolasite.com if anyone wants to have a read for free.
