The Wagon's Wheels @ The Grapes on Wednesday May 27th will feature a night of fine local talent including the blues/rock power trio Also Jack, acoustic driven alt-country from King Quentin and more. Doors open at 8pm and entry will be £3.

***ALSO JACK***

Also Jack are a blues/rock power trio with big guitar licks and catchy choruses. They hail from South Yorkshire and are regulars on the Sheffield and Barnsley live music scenes.

Lead singer/guitarist and songwriter Richard Kitson cites some of the greatest blues masters such as Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, BB King, Big Bill Broonzy et al as major influences. As a band they combine the blues genre with a fresh and uncompromising sound more akin to the White Stripes and Kings of Leon and their live gigs often see the band improvising freely on stage.

Despite being influenced by some of the oldest icons of popular music Also Jack remain fresh and modern. Indeed it is these influences that give them the freedom to manoeuvre between genres so easily.

The band recently completed their eponymous debut album which is available now.

***KING QUENTIN***

Described by Shefffield's premier music magazine, Sandman, as a slice of raw magic. Formed a few years ago they have quickly gained a reputation in Sheffield for their mix of roots and bluesy folk. Setting themselves apart form the glut of singer/songwriters by virtue of a distinct lyrical style they have grown a loyal following. Two full length albums have been recorded, the second, "King Quentin and the Defeat of the Primaeval Choas Monster" receiving excellent reviews. King Quentin exist to remind people what music is all about: emotion and memory making. There are no delusions of granduer, just authentic and honest lyrics and good music.

Tomorrow night, Wednesday May 27th, heralds the historic occasion of The Wagon's Wheels falling on the same evening as one of the most insignificant football matches of the season for the second year in a row. Whilst defeat for Fergie's men will cost them millions, this fine evening of musical entertainment will cost you just £3, and is guaranteed to be almost as entertaining as Ronaldo falling on his arse. Again.

Along with blues/rock power trio Also Jack and acoustic driven alt-country from King Quentin, we also now have Tommy R. Jones on the bill. Having debuted some new material with his new band at our Americana Night earlier this month, Tommy makes a swift return tonight when he'll be performing a solo set.

So if you're unfortunate enough to be a Manchester United fan, why not avoid the crushing sense of disappointment an evening in front of the television will bring. And if you're not, well we can still enjoy news of Lionel Messi's hat trick together (any guesses who i'm wanting to win tomorrow).

Champion? It will be. Love live music.
