This week Wednesday Night Live also presents: In My Shoes

What’s it about?

In My Shoes encourages us to understand what it’s like to see things from another person’s point of view. It will take place at the Peace Gardens on Wednesday 8th July, 5.30-7.00pm

Is it for everyone?

Yes. Everyone has a story to tell. This is your chance to tell your story, so other people can understand what it’s like to stand in your shoes. It’s also your chance to read or hear other people’s stories.

What happens after we have told our stories?

We will make the stories widely available for other people to read. We are looking at ways to showcase the stories, for example in exhibitions and on the website.

Contact:

Ruth Bell or Marie Birks Tel: 0114 273 4152

Full details can be found at

the bands i liked, the magic show i liked, but all the above does nothing for me im afraid, all seems a little bit like its aimed at getting "bums on seats" at venues, and parting me from my money :) Are there going to be anymore "shows" in public areas which i can enjoy?

Winter Garden, 6:30pm - 8pm (FREE)

Cubana, Ego Restaurant, Hui Wei, Platillos (more information below)

Wednesday Night Live goes international on 16 September 2009 with WORLD WEDNESDAY!

CreativeSheffield have joined up with Languages Sheffield and Musical Works to create an evening of music, dance, languages and international cuisine with something for everyone to enjoy.

The evening will consist of music and dancing in both Peace Gardens and Winter Garden; international food, music and dance in various city centre restaurants including the newly opened Ego Restaurant, Cubana, Platillos and Hui Wei; plus an opportunity to learn how to order your meals and drinks in a variety of different languages.

Mike Reynolds of Languages Sheffield commented: "An impressive 128 languages are spoken in Sheffield so we really are an international city. Therefore, we wanted to celebrate this through World Wednesday giving the people of Sheffield an opportunity to get involved in our global culture and experience a snap shot of it first hand."

Musical Works will present a World Music and Dance Stage which will run 5pm - 8pm in Peace Gardens (free) featuring percussion and dance from Liberia, Guinea, Brazil, the Indian sub-continent and the UK.

Alan Deadman of Musical Works commented: "Following on from the great reception of our World Stage at Sheffield Music City, there is clearly an appetite in our city for international music and dance. Therefore, we felt that it would be great to build on this with an internationally themed Wednesday Night Live, pulling in various other partners and city centre restaurants."

There will also be another chance to dance the famous Slum Dog Millionaire dance with dance teacher Nisha Lall. Alan Deadman added: "If you had an opportunity to be a part of this at Sheffield Music City you will know that it is not to be missed!"

Glam Productions will be presenting a free live Mediterranean themed dance show in the Winter Garden 6:30pm - 8pm. Clothing and hairstyling will be supplied by John Lewis and Taylor Taylor respectively. This forms the finale of Sheffield Retail Week organised by Pro-Sheffield and Business Link, supported by CreativeSheffield.

Brendan Moffett, Director of Strategic Marketing at CreativeSheffield, commented: "Wednesday Night Live provides a great platform for activity in Sheffield city centre and really encourages a lively city centre which helps to drive our early evening economy. World Wednesday is a good example of how Wednesday Night Live brings Sheffield businesses together to showcase what our city has to offer. Our international culture is a key selling point for our city so it's great that we can help to promote this further through World Wednesday. Come down and see what Sheffield city centre has to offer!"
