Car insurance

Recommended Posts

Car insurance is getting beyond a joke now,My new quote has gone up by around 30% from all the leading comparioson sites.I'm 40 years old with over 18 years no claims and have been driving the same car for over 4 years which keeps depreciating in value, but when I phoned my insurance company to point out these facts they just said that all policies had gone up.

If I told my customers that my prices were going up 30% just for the sake of it-I'd be out of a job within a month. But because we are forced to have insurance, the companies take advantage of this.

Quinn insurance quoted me £1700 for a BMW 320,but 2 years ago I went with Quinn because they were the cheapest (around £340) until the year after when they increased the policy price by a stupid amount,That's customer loyalty for you.

The country would be better off having no forced insurance, people would drive safer an slower, and would have more money in their pocket, young drivers would be able to afford to drive their own cars and car theft would go down.

But what about if you hit someone and seriously injured them? Would you be able to afford to pay out for their hospital bills and subsequent care costs?

they should raise fuel duty (marginally) to fund a third party insurance scheme - or put it onto road tax. Everyone is then covered, no-one is uninsured, everyone pays fairly. If you want comprehensive insurance, go to a commerical insurer.

(of course there's cons to the system, but it work's elsewhere OK!)

And when you bumped into a ferrari you'd be in debt for the next 20 years paying for the repairs.

Whilst we're revising it, VED should be scrapped and the difference added onto fuel duty. The more you drive the more you pay that way, rather than it short sightedly being based on emissions.

It sounds obvious but how about driving a lower performance car? That'll bring down your premium.

Alternatively consider insurers who specialise in performance cars. Go through the Yellow Pages and find the ones who specifically say they will cover this type of car.

I've always paid to protect my no claims bonus so in the event of an accident or theft I'll not be penalised at renewal time (in theory).

i lookign to renew my insurance on 13th n i been offered by admiral £1136 this year which is good as last year i paid £2436 but i wondered if anyone knew any better places...

i'm 29 with a porsche boxster s 3.2 n with 3 yr no claims..

any ideas

CLK 320 cabriolet with Churchill including protected no claims for £310,although they insist on Tracker £135 p.a.

It was over £500 when the renewal was issued so i went on Go Compare, guess what,Churchill were cheapest so i phoned their office and they honoured the quote.

That was last year and the lower price was maintained this year.

Depending on how long he's been driving uninsured then he's made a saving over that period. If this individual were 'scottwoodbur' for instance, and he'd been driving for six month, then he'd have saved about £800 having only having to fork out £200 for getting caught.

Don't they impound your car nowadays if you have no insurance? (and get caught of course)

There'd be far more instances of people driving off if that happened. Look how people get out of being responsible for minor dings in supermarkets.

I'm pretty honest but if I hit someone and nobody saw it, I'd be tempted to quickly drive away under lucario1234's scheme.
