Good indie electronica band from Derby that sound like Beach Boys meets Radiohead with some hints of Elbow. They played last time at Mentholmans @ West Street Live on the first wednesday of may and were exceptionally good so do check these fellas out!

"First to grace the Newcastle stage are Airburst who were fantastic, they've a bit of a Mudhoney/Nirvana ethos mixed with a Queens of the Stoneage sensibility (does that make sense) The drummer, the ******* child of Keith Moon and Dave Grohl, hits like a pikey smashing the **** out of his ailing wife (who is probably also his sister..................'s dog) The guitarist is special (a different kind of special to some of those character's I'd mentionned earlier who'd ferried some wheelchair bound type in through the backdoor - not an innuendo) despite a slight e-string related mishap happily rectified by a bandini/skullbone pitstop team his playing was second to none taking time between his riffage/soloing to fill in a bit of lead vocals. Musically excellent throughout with interesting twists to song arrangements, I can't fault these guys, will file under: make sure you get to see em before the aging bassist, who's apparently hand-reared these lads, gets them taken off him." - North Notts Live (Oct 08)

This guy is based from Pirouettes and will be doing his nice mellow songs for this gig and will be doing a lot of acoustic solo shows in the future. Very promising indeed!

 

ADAM WENT

 

This guy is the bass player of Highway Child and also member of Gentlemen Of Junk doing his solo set. One of the very few people that has fire and charm into his performances. Think of something very bluesy with a good raw grasp in his voice!

 

KID CONVENTIONAL - http://www.myspace.com/kidconventional

 

Heavily influenced by the likes of Ryan Adams, Bright Eyes, and Damien Rice. This man is also currently based in Sheffield and also Birmingham.

 

This is all for free entry and it should be an interesting gig!
