slimsid2000
Is anyone going to Spain this summer and intending to vist a bull ring? have you been to a bull fight in Spain before? What are your views on this? Do you think bull fighting is cruel or part of Spanish culture?
scottf
I went a few years ago- its pretty horrific but facinating at the same time. Its part of their culture and we should respect that.
Bloomdido
Totally cruel. I went to one many years ago and cheered when the matador got trampled. I then noticed about 100 pairs of Spanish eyes all glaring at me!
nuttygirl
I used to live in Granada, Spain, and went on a few occassions to bullfights on foot, fights on horseback (rejoneadores) and 'bull leaping' (recortadores). I respect the culture they have - and we certainly need to clean up our own country's animal protection laws and punishments before we start on another country... Here are some links to events I saw (please do not watch if offended): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6mvSnJV9po http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFfuH5qGT3Y

Genital mutilation and child molestation are also part of certain cultures - it doesn't make it respectable.

Reg Reader
The trouble with bull fighting is it's always in the matalan's favour. Take for instance this , as soon as the bull starts to win, the matalan's mates get involved. That's never fair.
