Kamble
Going to Glastonbury? No? Can't say I blame you, load of overpriced commercialised arse these days. Instead why not come and see the FIRST GIG by my new SKA BAND, 9 of us, playing some beltin ska classics for dancing to? We're on at the lescar pub on sharrow vale rd, near hunters bar roundabout, on Saturday June 27th, I'm told we're on about half eight, we are called STITCHFACE MCGRAW. It's FREE to get in, and you get the chance to see me and my band either rock the place or fail miserably - which will it be? YOU decide. Please please come - it'll be fun, and the more people we pull in, the more sweaty and frenzied the dancing will be. you know it makes sense! EDIT 28/07/09 - see below, we have changed our name to JUNGLE LION
samesame monkey
No, really you should, ska is good for your soul, and chases away evil demons. Really, it does you know
Phanerothyme
Belting doesn't begin to describe Stitchface McGraw - drawing talent from Sheffield stalwarts Bison, Mad Manners and the Nazdrove house band, Stitchface McGraw deliver rock steady ska at Force Ten. This explosive nine piece blasted their way through a lightning tour of two-tone with more punch than Bruce Lee and more belt than Patrick Moore; standing still was not an option. Highlights for this audience member were Nite Klub, Clever Trevor, Message to you Rudy, and Night Boat to Cairo plus a couple of unexpected numbers from Camper Van Beethoven, Skinhead Stomp and Balalaika Gap! But the whole was much greater than the sum of its parts, and if you even remotely like music of the off-beat, then keep your eyes peeled for more performances. Book early to avoid disappointment. Kamble
OK Everyone, two items of news - firstly, we've finally settled on a name for the band, and are no longer called 'stitchface mcgraw', we are now called JUNGLE LION. Secondly, our next gig is on SATURDAY AUGUST 15TH (15.08.09) in Penelope's, which is sort of in the same building as the Odeon cinema on Arundel Gate - you find the entrance to penelope's next to the upper doors to the cinema. It's going to be £3 in, and we'll be supported by the fantastic RENEGADE BRASS BAND, a 9-piece brass/percussion band playing funky hip hop/soul grooves, plus another act tbc. There'll be dj's too, playing finest quality ska and reggae tunes. Hopefully see you all there, as soon as we get our website and mailing list together I'll let you all know. Cheers! Kamble
Why thankyou. I've just set up a group on facebook, (called JUNGLE LION) so any SF users who are on facebook can join and be kept up to date with our activities. Right this second it's a bit sparse, but soon there will be pics and video and so forth on there. See you all on the 15th!
Kthebean
You're welcome. Will certainly be at the next gig. Why did you change the name by the way? Stitchface McGraw was ace! and Jungle Lion sounds like its going to be ragga or something!
