Ex R,A,F Regiment

Are there any ex or still serving Rockapes out there, i myself served from 1990 - 1999, I am interested to know how many of us are about, cheers

Yup, I was a rockape, be it a part time one. I served with 609 Squadron until last year

My mate's brother, Andy Dawson was in the regiment about that time, he's a police inspector in West Yorkshire these days.

I myself served on 51sqn Catterick, 34sqn Cyprus, Sd814 duties Honington, Qcs all over, Gdt Lyneham. I finished serving out my last 3 years at Halton where i was on the ft 1 & 2 training team, also helping out with the raw recruit training as and when needed. i have to say i wish that i had never left sometimes, but the training of the new recruits was becoming unbearable, IE they were not allowed to run in their boots for the first couple of weeks and god forbid if you shouted at one of them, chances were that you yourself would end up on a charge for bulling / beasting /character building. But i do miss the camaraderie more than anything.

I wasn't a pebble monkey but was posted to 16sqn honington as the adj in 98 - it was cancelled a week before and I ended up at Coltishall on 41(f). I was at Uxbridge 92-93 and knew a few of the QCS lads. Them were the days!
