Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster - Didn't enjoy our visit

Recommended Posts

On a slightly different note;

Me and O/H went to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park a couple of weeks ago. What a fantastic and beautiful place! It's set in acres and acres of ground dotted with the most fantastic sculptures (apart from Henry Moore) Even if you don't really like art, the grounds are stunning and in themselves worth a visit. Fortunately there was far too much for us to see in one day so we'll have to go again. Oh .... totally free too for some strange reason!

The sculpture garden at Chatsworth is well worth a visit too and if I get the chance (and a helicopter) will airlift the Anthony Gormley mini 'Angel of the North', under cover of night, to the back garden of my facility! :D

Yes the kids do like it but they don't have to pay what a rip off should have introductory prices because of the lack of animals, heard all about the lions but could not see them they were to far away a few meercats and not much else and a bacon butty and a coffee £6.50 well never go again.

So what would you propose, they keep the lions in a tiny enclosure just so you can get a close look at them? They are animals not objects! :loopy:

I went sunday and loved it, would definitely go again, the lions were wandering round their outdoor enclosures and definitely were not too far away, you could see them better than some zoos I have visited, what did you expect them wandering loose round the people:)

There were also meerkats lemurs, wallabies, zebras, llamas, chickens, goats, camels, birds of prey, hogs and racoon dogs, so im trying to work out where the lack of animals is, to me there seems to be plenty. It is a wildlife park and not a zoo, so there will not be as many aninals as at a zoo.

My favourite animals were the meerkats, lions and lemurs. We didnt take any kids, its was 3 adults that went and we all enjoyed it.

Totally agree I think its a great day out everything is well spaced out so can have good stroll round the park, and the lions and the heartbreaking story and how far they have come etc was great to see them out and about roaming.

Me, partner, little brother, mum and stepdad went on Sunday and really enjoyed it, although the comments about the cafe are true, there isn't a lot of choice and it is quite expensive - however, they offer a couple of different picnic areas for if you want to take your own food.

I was surprised about the animals here - two adult zebras and a baby zebra, hunting dogs, lemurs - I thought there were lions and a few other farm animals! As for the meerkats, they were everybodies favourite!

It was lovely to see three different prides of lions, even though all they did was sleep :hihi: and it was nice to learn about how they have been rescued from Romania.

I think for £10 each was a reasonable price and I would definately go again. What a lovely day out :)

I have just been doing a google search for information/vouchers for YWP and this post came up so figure I would ask if anyone has been recently as all the posts in here are pretty old?

I am planning on going in the next week for a day out with my BF (no kids) and looking at the website it looks like it would be a good day out?

It is excellent. They now have tigers and leopards. There are many enclosures where vistors can enter and be with the animals. You need to study the programme to find feeding times and times of talks. But do not miss hand feeding the Wallabies.
