Yes you are right there was a drowning in the lake at Crookesmoor Park. It was a young girl called Beverley Wall l knew her as l was a friend of her older sister Grace. They lived on the corner of Brunswick St and Broomspring Lane, she was at Springfield School at the time of her death.

My mum was really good friends with this girl and was sadly there on that day… I’ve read on this feed that there was some issues with racism .. She was friends with the people there that day racism was not an issue… she slipped between the two boats and all the boys who where there risked there own lives jumping in trying to get her free!! This will have effected everyone there that day, I know it has my mum x
