Nigel Womersle
As an animal lover, this sickens me to the core. Those responsible should be prosecuted in the same manner as we would, had we left those dogs in a car under the same circumstances. Of course, nothing will be done. Bloody disgraceful. Sickening. Strix
It's going to be interesting to see the outcome of this A dog breeder who was transporting her dogs in a refrigerated trailer, unfortunately lost her dogs when the refrigeration unit failed, but she was prosecuted for causing unnecessary suffering
sheffield_uk
Says it all when the copper has not even been suspended... Should be jailed for that!!!
HeadingNorth
The RSPCA are conducting an investigation (in conjunction with the local police authority) .. and they don't need police approval to bring a prosecution. The chief question will be which officer was responsible for the vehicle at that particular time.
wiz*
Absolutely tragic....poor dogs. I can't imagine how they must have felt, it's bad enough sat on a bus in this weather.
Agent Orange
Says it all when the copper has not even been suspended... Should be jailed for that!!! As sad as this incident may be, we don't have all the facts so to start blaming the officer for deliberately killing these animals is a tad unfair. How do we not know that the animals weren't kept in an airconditioned van and like strix's explanation, it failed? There could be a whole number of explanations, so the fair thing to do is investigate the matter and then take it from there. Talk about a witch hunt. Saffy
Oh .. poor little buggers. The dogs, not the police.
medusa
If anyone should have the proper facilities to prevent this happening and treat their animals well then it should be the police, who have working dogs as a key part of their staff force. The dogs should not be 'second class' in needs behind the rest of the work force, they are unable to simply walk away from unbearable conditions. The duty of care that every pet owner is expected to follow has failed in this instance and the police officer(s) at fault here should be treated in exactly the same way as any other dog owner who leaves their dogs to die in a vehicle in hot weather. What on earth were they thinking, leaving the dogs in the van in this weather anyway? Don't they have space for the dogs to be unloaded into a kennel when at a police station for any length of time? If this was the case, then the person should still be prosecuted, just as the dog breeder was. Police breaking laws and not getting prosecuted is absolutely disgusting. I sincerely hope justice is done here, but i wont hold my breath.
Eric_Collins
Nottinghamshire Sandwich Shop Police, says it all to be honest. I have the unfortunate pleasure of being policed by these cowboys.
