camskelton
Hi The Shepley Spitfire is no longer open, another one bits the dust as they say, they have shut up and have their blinds down and have been closed for a few days, looks like they've gone. LukeD
Douglas Shepley was a Battle of Britain Spitfire pilot from Holmesfield. He was shot down and killed on 12 August 1940. He had only been married for 6 weeks and his brother and sister had already been killed whilst serving in the war. His mother and widow started a fund to buy a new Spitfire with £100 of their own money. http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=1807038

LukeD
Yeah, £100 was a lot of money back then. Hopefully no one told them that a new Spitfire would cost about £12,000!

Bertielil
Sadly I've just had it confirmed that they have indeed closed. The tenants left on Friday. I really thought that they would make a go of it.
