You've got to come and see Three Trapped Tigers - my vote for 'Best New Act' we've had yet at DiScover Sheffield. This should be a great show.

Details pasted from DiS:

"What's this? A national tour featuring two of our absolute favourite new acts, plus a smattering of local talent? Indeed! DrownedinSound is proud to present: the first DiScover Tour, spearheaded by Three Trapped Tigers and Gold Panda.

As you probably know, DiS has been putting on shows in Sheffield and Manchester for a while now, but this time we've widened our net and teamed up with a clutch of promoters from around the country to send these two animal-monickered outfits on a little DiScover-endorsed soiree.

Our headliners Three Trapped Tigers - DiScovered here - release their second EP (EP2, no less) in August via Blood & Biscuits. It'll melt your face, basically. And if you've not seen their live show yet, my word you're missing out. In the meantime, check their Myspace for recorded goodness, and the live video below.

Gold Panda's slightly more of an unknown quantity, but not for long. This one man beat-factory - support slots with Maps and Simian Mobile Disco beckon - is sure to warm things up early doors, mark our words. Or just take a listen on Myspace. Release-wise, the 12" Miyamae EP is out now on Various, with 7" 'Quitters Raga' dropping on August 3rd via Make Mine. Expect a DiScover article soon, and in the mean time check out Wendy Roby's glowing endorsement from Monday's singles."

Three Trapped Tigers

Sometimes a band’s name is perfectly apt. Experimental London trio Three Trapped Tigers are one, playing like three caged beasts – sheer raw energy and power contained.

TTT recorded their first EP in Berlin within weeks of getting together, taking their name from a book by Cuban writer Cabrera Infante and bonding over the idea of dragging elements of Aphex Twin-style IDM into the format of a live band, replacing computers with humans, rendering the backing track redundant and humanizing the predominantly clinical genre.

The band’s output to date spans multiple genres without sitting comfortably in one. Expect a mind melting but beautiful melding of melody, progressive live electro with opportune slashes of visceral guitar. Furiously schizophrenic and complex duelling Nintendo-style synths and textural electronica.

Tom Rogerson, Adam Betts and Matt Calvert are currently working on a triptych of self released EPs before the debut album.

"Dischord + Warp = a listener's dream come true" - Drowned in Sound

"This'll make fans of Lightning Bolt, Battles and Aphex Twin cream themselves" - NME

"It sounds like the end of music as you know it and the beginning of something dazzlingly fresh" - Clash

"This loud and twisted trio are the safest bets to take death-improv to the masses" - Time Out

+ Gold Panda

http://www.myspace.com/goldpanda

"An undercurrent of bass flecked with vinyl crackles pushes [the music] along, but it's the voices, bits of guitar and sitar, all given the sonic Cuisinart treatment, that take things to another, more achingly beautiful realm" - Pitchfork

"Like Girl Talk if he loved mescaline, hated top 40, and was devoted to messing kids' heads up" - Prefix

+ Urgent Talk

http://www.myspace.com/urgenttalk

"Urgent Talk take their cues from M83's blissed-out take on shoegaze/electronica, or The Unicorns at their most bleepy and playful" - Drowned in Sound

"A wonderful three piece, a noisy, energetic pop band" - Sandman

"Urgent Talk's existence is definitely a massive win for the universe" - The Line Of Best Fit
