Papa Al from the JuJu Club & Musical Works has put together a great mix of live music, both familiar and new, local and global for your delight: 10.00 OLYMPIAD CHEERLEADERS 11.00 SUN (brilliant singer/songwriter) 11.30 LA JAZZ (Dixieland jazz) 12.15 THE STOOPS (fresh indie pop from Darnall Music Factory) 12.55 ABELWELL (sweet reggae groove) 1.45 KATE, SARAH & MARK (the young sound of Sheffield folk) 2.20 FRANK WHITE’S BLUES BAND (belting blues from Sheffield’s finest) 3.05 ROULEMENT (zappy African percussion and dance) 3.30 THE NOISE BLASTERS (exhilarating beats of the Dhol drum) 4.10 ROBERT MASEKO & CONGOBEAT ( thrilling Congolese music) 5.20 THE SHEFFIELD SAMBA BAND (radical samba rhythms) 6.05 THE BAGHDADDIES (glorious gypsy, klezmer, ska) The whole show is presented by the irrepressible MC Nige Watch the highlights of the day on the big screen in the Peace Gardens and look out for our roving cameras, everyone has a chance to be a star on the day. Music Village on Barkers Pool, on Saturday July 25th, 10 am to 5.00 pm Get stuck in and have fun and learn some new skills, with the African Village where you can pick up some African crafts, learn a dance or try some drumming; the CAN creative craft tent; Poetry in the OPUS WORDLIFE tent, the SWAMP circus skills space and the dance area where you can learn the steps to the hit Slumdog Millionaire Dance with Nisha Lall.
