daftlad
Happy Yorkshire day. After moving to Yorkshire when I was 12, I still don't fully comprehend some of those funny words and phrases you come out with. The accent however is May I mark my respect of this occasion with the Yorkshire national anthem: Yorkshire born, Yorkshire bred, thick in the arm, thick in the 'ead. TEEHEE. No the anthem is Yorkshire born Yorkshire bred Stong in the arm Great in bed

Jeffrey Shaw
'Yorkshire' is in practice meaningless (other than for cricket) post- 1 April 1974. Sheffield is in South Yorkshire. Why no SY Day?
HeadingNorth
'Yorkshire' is in practice meaningless (other than for cricket) post- 1 April 1974. The historical county units can still be considered to exist, even though the "official" council boundaries have long since changed. To me personally, Yorkshire means very little because I'm not a Yorkshireman. Nevertheless I recognise that the county has a wealth of heritage and many things of which its inhabitants should be proud.
