Thursday August 13th once again sees WagonWheelMedia welcome four acts to The Grapes for our latest Acoustic Night. This time out it features Tommy R. Jones, Boss Caine, Richard Kitson and Shedboatshed. Doors open at 8pm and entry is just £3.

***TOMMY R. JONES***

Singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tommy R. Jones plays a range of music from rock to funk to grunge to blues to country to folk. His solo offerings focus on the piano and acoustic guitar, but you might also know him from one of the many other bands he's involved in, including playing bass and piano for alternative metal/rock band Machines.

"Piano keys twinkle like a summer night sky throughout and the accompanying guitar sounds as though it has been gently coaxed into performing. Mr Jones' expertise in forging affecting, stripped back songs is plain to see and the passion by which these types of songs will live or die is also present" Sandman Magazine.

***BOSS CAINE***

Boss Caine have played all over the UK, with frontman GT Turbo performing solo/acoustic and sometimes full band. They've played with the likes of Arlo Guthrie, Sam Baker, Alabama 3, The Handsome Family, Willard Grant Conspiracy, Guillemots, The Deadstring Brothers, Great Lake Swimmers, and many many more. Producing Americana and Alt-Country at it's finest, GT Turbo has always proved to be captivating on his previous solo jaunts at The Grapes.

"...Tom Waits singing Ryan Adams if they had both had the good fortune to grow up in Yorkshire...." Fibbers, Barfly.

"...Dylan-esque angst ridden lyrics...oozing charisma and individuality..played with raw brash style..." BBC N.Yorks.

"Boss Caine are the real deal. They will rip your heart out and toss it back to you many songs later doused in whiskey, soul and more emotions than you know how to handle!" Northern Music.

" These dark disciples of the damned drag the awestruck audience into their warped world of whisky, women and lost love, with a piece of pure, blues-drenched Americana." The Talk Magazine.

***RICHARD KITSON***

Lying somewhere between folk and blues, Richard's acoustic songs tend to reflect upon experiences, places, and relationships. He uses his solo gigs as an opportunity to pay homage to the bluesmen who started it all and also to excercise his softer troubador side with his fusion of country, delta blues and folk. Richard playied last year's Moor Music Festival in Ilkley where he kept alive the spirit of the likes of Big Bill Broonzy and Blind Boy Fuller with a nod to the likes of current day stars Seasick Steve and Tom Waits.

"Richard Kitson is fantastic" Sandman Magazine, July 2007.

***SHEDBOATSHED***

Shedboatshed are a young Sheffield three piece who have been performing their folky acoustic pop around the local scene for about 6 months. Tonight they play as an acoustic duo. They recently made their Grapes debut opening for Standard Fare and Mexican Kids At Home.
