ruthie
I've recently discovered that somebody who was once very dear to me died around four years ago (in Sheffield). Can anyone suggest how I might go about discovering whether there's a memorial/grave? I can't approach the person's family as I don't want to cause them any further pain. Thanks for any advice. BillyWhiz
Try and find the exact date of the person's demise and check The Star obituary columns (at Local Studies Library on Surrey Street) for service details - you should then find whether you are dealing with a cremation or a burial. Failing that you could ask at the Register office (at rear of Town Hall), they should have it on computer if it was 4 years ago. Good luck:)
