masbrolass
Historic information required on Cowmouth Farm, Hemsworth Road, Norton i.e when it was built or who has lived there before someone comes along and tries to demolish this rare building. ann ford
In the 1881 census Joseph Carr and his family lived there he was 'a farmer of 43 acres no men employed' however 3 sons of working age lived with him as well as 3 daughters. Amos Knowles had this dairy in the 1940/50s, his bottles were unusual in that they had very wide tops unlike the co-op dairies that followed. My mother remembers in the 1920's the milk being delivery by hand cart and the farmer would measure a pint into the jug you took out to him. The Norton History Group may have more information.
