madowl
Id like to see a new big, cafe - somewhere where you could meet mates and have a chat at dinner, or in the evening, have a meal, a more relaxed place to meet people, instead of a busy snack bar or pub. jackthedog
Cyclone is right. A bar is only as nice as it's clientele (sp?) Whatever they build there will get filled with the same folk that frequent Legends and the Ball. Therefore none of you will want to go in there. So you end up with another bar full of drunk idiots vomiting, fighting and generally destroying the area.
jackthedog
Flats? Maybe a good idea, except the tennents would loath it after two weeks had past. Can you imagine living on Hillsborough corner? Trying to relax on a friday night? Ugh. Were I forced to live there, I'd want a top floor flat with grenade-proof glass.
Saifa
I'd like to see em get rid of that tram gate! I'm gonna have a hard time convincing the law I'm public transport when they eventually catch me running through it.
JaneG
I would really like to see a bookshop, with a cafe/bar inside, that stayed open until about 10pm. It would be quite nice to consdier my purchases while drink a flass of vino.
Bilge
If someone ever gets round to creating a 'nice' bar (or shop or restaurant) in Hillsbro then I'm sure it would succeed. S6 is a big place, and a lot of people pass that corner every day. There are more 'nice' people around than undesirables, and they've got more money to spend. If a new fancy cafe-bar/restaurant had no TVs, hence no SkySport, no karaoke, no video jukebox, no drinks promotions, and it wasn't particularly cheap drinks would all the 'drunk idiots' still go in it? They'd stay in the other places most of the time wouldn't they? Crookes and Walkley are right next door and full of students with time and money to spend. But they currently have next to no impact on the shape of Hillsborough. That's got to change if things are to improve - it needs their spending power. Give them (and the permanent residents with dosh to spend) somewhere nice to go and see what happens. At the moment it seems like a lot of potential customers feel they are not allowed in Hillsborough at night so they never set foot in the place. So it's mainly left to the usual type of customer and we never escape the present empty shops/crappy takeaways/rough pubs model of Hillsborough. It doesn't have to stay like that if there's money to be made doing something different.

FORE
A two way fly-over connecting Stannington Rd & Penistone Rd therefore avoiding the hopeless traffic situation. What's it going to be like with more houses at Loxley College? Malin Bridge? Useless-another bridge needed up the Loxley!
haggis
Its time somthing was done about the corner, compulsery purchase comes to mind if only to show" citizen kane" that its not what he wants but what the people of sheffield want, that will count in the end.The idea of flats in the middle of a shopping centre is just money grabbing unless of course there are shops or a pub or a diner underneath, in which case it won't be long before the residents are complaining about the smell / noise ect. I wonder if our new M.P. will take an interest in this?or indeed our local council rep? A petition is a very good idea it would give the local people a chance to find out just who it is thats making the corner look so run down, why their doing it, and how much they care about what people think! Then a list of shops that they own could be shown and a good old fashoned boycott put into operation!
