Andy C Posted September 2, 2009 Share Posted September 2, 2009 Sheffield Rugby Union Club is holding a beer festival at Abbeydale Sports Club (Abbeydale Road South, near Dore & Totley railway station), supporting the Wooden Spoon Rugby Charity and Floodlight Appeal. The Festival is open Friday 11th Sep : 17:00-23:30 Saturday 12th Sep : 12:00-23:30 Sunday 13th Sep : 12:00-16:00 Admission is free. All beers are £2.50 a pint or £1.25 a half. (10-12 September) 25 real ales, 8 ciders, curry shack, pork sarnies, tombola and a whole programme of things going on! Aromas of elderflower and grapes. Strong citrus flavours, especially grapefruit. Long lasting bitter finish. Very refreshing and packed full of flavour. BLACK MASS - 6.66% DARK Very dark ruby ale with a rich creamy head. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee and burnt toast. Full bodied and warming with strong flavours of bitter chocolate, fruitcake, raisins and hints of cherries. A lingering bitter finish. This is a beer brewed with complex malts and hops which give rise to complex flavours. A beast of a brew. ACORN BREWERY, BARNSLEY GORLOVKA IMPERIAL STOUT- 6 % A deep malt and hoppy aroma with liquorice throughout. Roast malts, fruit and hops also carry through this full bodied stout. Dangerously drinkable. THREE CATS CIDER, MORLEY, DERBYSHIRE MEDIUM SWEET – 6.7 % Derbyshire CAMRA members Sue and Chris Rogers have planted a new orchard, and are now making traditional cider. Most of their cider is Eastern counties style, using cookers and eaters. WILKINS FARMHOUSE CIDER, WEDMORE, SOMERSET MEDIUM/DRY – 6.0 % Roger Wilkins is a well-known cider character. The family business was set up by his Grandfather in 1917.
