Billy Casper
The price of beer, Credit crunch, and most definately the smoking ban, all contributing to the decline and closure of pubs/clubs. I am a non-smoker and i'm a singer too, so no smoking in these places makes my life so much easier in the job i do! Having said that, this countries people are so weak when it comes to confrontation with the government. We accept almost anything they say, i still can't believe it when i see people putting their coats on and going outside for smoke in the cold, rain, snow! As a nation we are like the governments pet sheep, have people got no respect for their liberty? As i said, it's a blessing for me but it doesn't mean i agree with it's principles. slimsid2000
Firstly I'm a non smoker in favour of smokers rights. Smokers have been banned from smoking in pubs. The authorities (the government) have stopped ordinary people from smoking in pubs as per your definition. Therefore they have been banned. This was brought in by Tony Blair (who was a former smoker) supported by a cabinet full of former smokers. Also not all former smokers are in favour of the ban. My wifes quit and she is fine with smoking in pubs. The only real gripe we had was smoking around people eating food. Beer tax Smoking Ban Are both contributing to a decline in the great British pub. All the pubs used to have a non smoking section. With better ventilation this would work better now. What was the problem with that:rant: You what? What planet were you on? Lovely buildings, cheap beer and packed to the rafters.

Sharp87
It's great finding a Sam Smiths pub in London. Lovely buildings, cheap beer and packed to the rafters. i can see some sheffielders being offended at paying more than £2 for the beer though (its not quite there yet, but will be soon). there are actually plenty of quiet sam smiths pubs in london too.
