Harper Brings World Blues Fusion From Australia/ USA

An amalgamation of blues, rock, funk, soul and world music, Australian singer/ songwriter "Harper" creates a heady mix of roots music through his creative use of the harp, and the haunting drone of the didgeridoo. Borrowing from western and world music, this musical visionary develops a highly original take on the roots genre.

2009 is going to be Harper's biggest year yet with 30 + major festivals, many of which he will be headlining in five different countries. His latest CD "Day By Day" (Blind Pig Records , USA ) has received world wide acclaim and international air play. "Harper's vocals are often howls of pain. Harper's music is primal. It goes way inside, creating honest, deeply felt emotions. It is joyful and painful at the same time. And another thing -- Harper's music is essential" (Rambles Magazine, USA)

On his most recent UK tour Harper's live show was described as " strong, expressive, at times pain- ridden vocals were interspersed with some top class electronic harp playing and the unearthly and soul wrenching call of the didgeridoo" (Blues Matters, United Kingdom, 2008). During this tour a Harper live session was aired world wide on BBC London on the Paul Jones Show. Paul Jones described Harper as “ an extraordinary performer”. Harper's killer tour schedule of 250+ shows per year has gained him a grassroots US and international following. Harper is currently working on a new CD due to be released through Blind Pig Records (USA) early in 2010.

Harper is a multi award winning singer/ songwriter in Australia- winning awards for "Best Male Vocalist" "Song of the Year", "Band of the Year" - (Australian Blues Awards) and "Acoustic Artist of Year"-(TREV awards). Harper, who is now based in Michigan, USA, is backed by his incredible Michigan based band "Midwest Kind" featuring Mike Howe on guitar, Marc Dixon on drums/ timbales/djembe/ zydeco tie and Chris Smith on bass guitar.
