PhilipB
Easy, Ford Escort AWB520G. Cost £400, absolute fortune in 1972. 1100 engine with a widebore pipe, sounded like a F1 car and went like a tram! Followed up with another Escort, this one was way upmarket, 1300L model, had wooden trim to the dashboard and black "go faster stripe". Both of them vitually fell apart with rust. sprite
I Had A1936 MG PB it was given to me in a very poor state .I spent a lot of time on it ,kept it for a few years then sold it for £100 . The last I heard of it,it was in the USA. The only one of its kind and worth thousands.

deano
My first was a 1969 ford escort 1300,this was in 1984,paid £100 for it,seems wierd looking back,it was only 15 years old when i had it, but it would be 7 years older than my "classic" spitfire which i am currently struggling to return to the road. Makes me feel old:(

nuf_said
A VW Beetle DWA 164? B - lovely to drive but only did about 70mph with the wind and tide behind it on a downhill stretch. Followed that with a Cortina 1600E - very very nice.

Swan_Vesta
My first car was a red metro reg F87CKG. It cost me £800 and was my first lesson that cars are costly beasts. Eventually it got written off by an eejit who ploughed into the back of it while it was parked at the side of the road.- oh how I smiled
