It wasn't Maltby Street Council School but 'County School'

 

Yes it was.....got my leaving report in front of me as I type....10th April '57 it's dated and J. R Thomson was the Head Master.

Personal Qualities

Attitude to work.

Initiative.

Perseverence.

Reliability.

Sociability.

Courtesy.

 

Attainments.

English

Maths.

Needlework.

Geography.

History.

Housecraft.

 

And thats what we were sent off in the world to do :hihi:

no big deal that we didn,t pass the 11 plus hard work and setting yourself agoal and reaching it was all that mattered and im glad to say i did but i must say maltby st school were the best years of my life great days

Miss Woral lived with another teacher a miss----- Miss Woral, all way,s dressed in masculin clothe,s.

We were inocent in those day,s.

I think she came to Maltby Street around 1949 so she had a good run at that

school.

I will all way,s remember her making me stand infront of the class,& telling me

to say my twelve time,s table,she knew dame well that I couldnt say it.

Talk about mental cruelty.

 

Worall had an evil streak I think....a classic example of ruling with fear......not a good environment for learning.
