Grahame
Guess not, G, she's been dead about 200 years! Oh, I didn't know, don't know who she is either. .
Alien
Guess not, G, she's been dead about 200 years! It's amazing at what lengths some men and a shovel will go to just to get a skinny bird though.
Wildcat
I would prefer to say that homeopathy doesn't work, but the placebo effect sometimes does. I wonder why you prefer to present the placebo effect that way? Disinterested objectivity or the consequences of accepting flamingjimmy's point? Wildcat
Just watched this and it made me think..... does anyone that believes in homeopathy think that a drop of lager in a pint of water will have a greater effect?
zongamin
Just watched this and it made me think..... does anyone that believes in homeopathy think that a drop of lager in a pint of water will have a greater effect? It has to be a drop so small as to be undetectable in the water solution remember!

LibertyBell
If like Prince Charles you believe that homeopathy is proper medicine, please watch Crispian Jago's funny explanation of why it is total nonsense. Depends what you mean by "works"
Cyclone
The placebo affect will only take place if you honestly believe that the treatment is going to work. So we could say that homeopathy will only have an affect on the ignorant or stupid. Since it would have no greater effect than a plain water placebo in a double blind trial we can also say that it has no affect. Thus flamingjimmy's statement is wrong. Homeopathy is quackery and has no affect.
RockBaboon
Read "Bad Science" by Dr Ben Goldacre. Fascinating book which delves into the whole homeopathy and nutrition minefield. The placebo effect is explained in great detail and is clearly important, along with the "regression to the mean" explanation i.e. a person would have got better anyway, regardless of medicines or homeopathy remedies taken, simply because the human body is really rather good at healing itself anyway. Takes "Dr" Gillian McKeith to task as well...pointing out some of her "scientific facts" as absolute howlers.
