SulpHate
Facebook page Friday 16th October 11pm - 5am @ The Earl, Queens Rd UG vs Cargo vs Sulphate Room 1 Jonny Townsend (UG) Adam Connal (UG) Kassien (Cargo) Trowie (Cargo) Room 2 Matt Slocombe (Sulphate) Das Broome (Sulphate) Tommy Vicari Jnr (Vanity/Comfortable Records) Sheffield Bleep ( http://www.sheffieldbleep.co.uk/blog ) Rich Evans (2nd Saturday) Its not very often in Sheffield clubbing that demand out-strips supply. But ever since Urban Gorilla played its 'last' record on New Years Eve 2008, the UG faithful have turned out in their droves to the few intimate parties that the city's best loved night has staged. Urban Gorilla is in what you could describe as a Thunder Lips style semi retirement - gladly rearing its furry bonce for a head to head with the young fiesty challenger. Back to its underground not-for-profit-just-for-fun roots, UG invites two underground contenders to lock horns with the nomadic city-ape. Enter Cargo. 3 and a half years of training, countless venues and way too much pain has seen this night go from nothing to being THE hot underground night in Sheffield right now. The Summer of 2009 has seen some of the best parties Cargo has ever had and judging by their last blistering outing with Subb-an in August, they are finally ready to step up to the mark to show the Urban Gorilla troupe what they're made of. Trowie and Kassien are worthy flag flyers. In the unpredictable napalm death corner of this triangular ring we have Sulphate. These boys are likely to cause trouble so have been given their own room upstairs (out of the way). Seriously though, expect a mixed bag of techno, acid, knob-twiddling and other bleeps, bangs and twangs from Tommy Vicari Jnr, Sheffield Bleep and the monocle-wearing residents. Don't expect them to be pulling any punches. Of course UG vs Cargo vs Sulphate will take place at The Earl where all the grand-parents of Sheffield UG folklore will remember held many messy occassions; times when clubbing in Sheffield was so full of promise. Remember that? Dont worry - the Cargo and Sulphate boys have an abundance of it! So why not step back in time and pretend its your first time? Grandads and Grannies; UG is back again... Lets get ready to grumble!
