brocco
Another week, another DiS gig... If you saw them at Tramlines or caught their last appearance at The Harley back in 2007 (or even picked up their early releases on Sheffield's own Launderette imprint), you'll know how good Johnny Foreigner are. Turbocharged guitar-pop par excellence, in a sentence. Opening proceedings (and not on the poster, a late addition) we have another hotly-tipped Tramlines performer in the shape of Mairead. Only a few gigs in, people are already starting to get very excited about her snarling noise-pop. Come down early and find out why - she's on at 8.15pm sharp. Facts and figures below the line... --- Johnny Foreigner http://www.myspace.com/johnnyforeigner "The perky JF crew remind us of some of our favourite things: Kinsella wonky rock, dance-punk-dance t’ing a la Bloc Party by way of Q And Not U, and Blur. A bit Blur. Like, early Blur… jump about your room Blur. Basically JF make us jump about the place" - DrownedinSound "Like going on a bouncy castle after three pints: breathless fun that could descend into chaos but which ends in a heap of sweaty limbs and smiles wide enough to be seen from space" - NME Tellison http://www.myspace.com/tellison "Their treble-layered harmonies and quirky energetic songs recall the sense, if not the sound, of The Get Up Kids in their early days... a wonderful sense of hope, regret and youthful abandon" - Kerrang Japanese Voyeurs http://www.myspace.com/japanesevoyeurs "Distorted powerchords, simple minimalist chord progressions, screeching Superunknown-era Soundgarden-esque abstract guitar solos" - Asher Wren Mairead http://www.myspace.com/iamraid + DJs: DrownedinSound @ The Harley, 334 Glossop Road, Sheffield, S11 8ZA 8pm £5adv Ticket outlets: The Harley SeeTickets - http://seetickets.com/see/price.asp?code=4...iller2=art-srch WeGotTickets - http://www.wegottickets.com/event/52904
