HotPhil
Didn't it used to be Shennanigans or something?
Plain Talker
When I worked there in the early/ mid eighties, (83/4) it was Wig and Pen, then it became Shenanigans, for a few years, and oddly, it went back to being the W&P, again. I don't remember what it was called before then. Sorry.

Wasn't it called the Wig & Pen because it was frequented by the legal profession based around there?

xenia
It opened about 1968. It was originally the Wig and Pen. I wish I could remember the names of the owners but they were a father and son team accompanied by wifes/girlfriends. It was very posh or maybe pretentious. I certainly had a number of good nights in there prior to going on to the Cavendish and if you turned up with a new girlfriend they acted as though you were a major VIP. It worked for me a few times! pjkay
:) What name did the Wig & Pen have when it first opened in the Sheffield City Centre please? It was the place where the lawyers and legal members used to lunch and chat. It was up market. frequented by the sharkpit of society. What would we do without them. Yes a lively lot. Good fun and of course a well educated witty bunch. Quite unlike myself who went for entertainment purposes only. Best Wishes from Cape Town pjkay
