wednesday1
So are you saying they would have been directed to vote one way by their party? Thus making it not a free vote? Before you say it, I should point out this isn't a labour/tory split (not nowadays) with several prominent tories being against hunting (widdecombe for instance) The vast majority of Tory MP's (no reasons to believe, that I am aware of, any new Tories would be any different) support hunting with hounds. Whilst the vast majority of Labour MP's do not. Of course there are some like Widdecombe who is a Tory who is against and also Kate Hoey, Labour ,who supports blood 'sports'. But these are very much the exceptions to the rule.
Lady Star
Can't believe the **** ups in his PR Cameron is making at the moment - falling down in a interview by saying that he has made no promises other than cutting inheritance tax, the other things he has seemingly 'promised' were simply things he would like to do... And now he wants us to step back in time? Strange way of going about fighting for power, especially as his party haven't been seen as fit to govern for over a decade... lewis cypher
Fox-Hunting......now there's a really useful way to spend an afternoon....... Fox Hunting was banned for the simple reason - because it is cruel, inhumane and has no place in a modern-progressive society....End of.... As the Meerkat says..........Simplez! But these are very much the exceptions to the rule. I think I am right in saying that none of the Tories who supported the ban will remain in the next Parliament (of course there is the possibility that they will replaced by others who support the ban, but they have always been a small minority within the Tory party). If anything Cameron has been less strident about this issue recently. He is only too aware that a vote winner to some people is a vote loser to others as he steps out in Blair's footprints of trying to be all things to all people (and in reality being nothing to anyone).
