Berberis
I did not say that it only kills what it needs to eat.. You muppet, the fox IS innocent as it is UNAWARE that it's actions maybe CRUEL, but the fox kill's to eat. Odd as it looks as though you did say exactly that
tat lister
I did not say that it only kills what it needs to eat. It is well known that if a fox gets into a chicken coop it may kill more than one chicken. The difference is, is that the fox does not KNOW it is doing wrong. Those to$@ers who go hunting must feel guilty about their 'sport' or they wouldn't be so secrective. Eg When the League Against Cruel Sports monitors their activities they are often threatened and attacked by the cowards on horseback. Like the cowards that attack people fishing or draw hounds on to railway lines all members of the loony lacs
Phanerothyme
There's a distinct difference between [foxes] it only kills what it [they] will eat. and foxes kill to eat. You can see that can't you?
RobbyBrown
Why not simply bring in a law that makes it illegal for dogs to take part? The hunt could still go on (ie, huntsmen and horses will still be able to go hunting) however there would be no dogs. Would that not work?
Chris_Sleeps
Would that not work? The fox would escape, or hide under ground. It's not the hunt that's important for them, or they'd say "ah, he got away. Better luck next time". No, they send a pack of terriers underground so the fox has to fight, outnumbered, for his life. League Against Cruel Sports Fox Hunting. [...] If a fox manages to find refuge in an open hole, the huntsman calls for the 'terriermen' to enter their dogs into the hole in an attempt to either drive it out for further hunting, or to keep it under attack until it can be dug out. [...] Fox hunting also takes place below ground, and is called 'terrier work' or 'fox baiting'. Most hunts have terriermen who send small dogs down holes in pursuit of foxes which seek refuge underground from the hunt. The terrified foxes often end up in a battle with the terriers, while the terriermen listen to the animals' growls and dig the foxes out. Once dragged above ground, foxes may be shot, clubbed to death by the terriermens' shovels, or thrown to the hunts' hounds.

They should at least be good sports and conceed defeat once it's got back to it's den. Digging it out, sending terriers in, is going too far. The fact it's got away suggests it is one of the healthier ones, not the old and infirm.

digglydog
Shooting foxes is NOT the most humane method of dispatches there is no guarantee of a kill, where as if the hounds catch the fox it is killed almost instantly. A fox with a gunshot wounded can live for hours even days before dying from either blood loss of blood poisoning, both of which are far more painful for the fox. They should ban shooting as well then
