Can you post a link/proof that locking people up for longer works better? Do you agree the USA system is very poor? I have no problem with life meaning life whatsoever for the ones who deserve it, but sometimes the Americans take it too far, depending on the State, of course. There was a case in Texas a couple of years ago where a guy ran up 7 drunk driving charges, never killed or seriously hurt anyone and he got a life sentence. Now, I know drinking and driving is very bad, especially so many times but life in prison is a bit much. There was a case in Ontario last year where a young guy who had been drinking and driving 60km over the limit and killed 3 small kids and their grandfather and seriously injured the grandmother and he only got 10 years. They're often crimes of stupidity and lack of forethought. 20 years later, it's a totally different person that is being released from jail. There's nothing wrong with a death penalty if it's deserved, but for the handwringers and trolls like yourself a full life sentence will have to do. There is of course plenty wrong with it, not least the fact that killing people because we think think killing people is the worst thing you can do is morally and logically indefensible. He should walk to the electric chair before walking the streets - what a pity we don't have it for dispatching trash like him. And one of the murderers of Lee Rigby is wanting £25,000 compensation because he lost a tooth in a brawl with prison officers. The trial and proceedings will cost around £100,000. The police should have finished him and his accomplice off there and then and saved us, and Lee Rigby's grieving family, a packet, plus the latest heartache.
