Anyone else fined in Wickes Car Park on Fright Night?

Recommended Posts

There seemed to be lots of spaces in q-park (cheese grater), apcoa (opposite new fire station) which was were me and my friends parked. These are the 2 main car parks in the city centre. If you wanted to park somewhere for free, all on street parking or the council car parks would have been a better bet, you'd have had to wait around but would have got a space eventually.

Anyway, don't pay the fine, the company cannot enforce them. You will get several letters from them over the next few months just ignore them and they will go away.

There was a thread on here the other day about wickes car park, yet people still park there, at the end of the day its private land, did you have permission to park there? Did you not read the signs? Do crime, pay the fine!!

And I believe this is the sign telling you that you could be fined??

Well if people pay the "fine", they are idiots.

It is legally unenforceable.

I'm not defending the cowboy parking attendents, but people will have knowingley parked there, if they were paying attention to the signs and IIRC there are a few in that car park(inc. both sides of the entrance) they would not have recieved a fine, I feel it is justified, they displayed signs clearley, its not like they disguised the signs.

Its just the same as parking on double yellows and recieving a fine/clamp, people know its wrong but still do it.

It wont be a problem soon as I think they are all going to be licenced or something.

Driving around for ages, as was worse than ever for parking because people thought they couldn't rely on the buses, eventually parked in Wickes Car Park, with loads of others. Presumed this had been made available for Fright Night as a gesture by Wickes, as it was full. Came back to find a ticket on the car along with lots of others - not your average parking fine though - BUT £80! Very expensive family night out for many. But a fantastic night for the clamping company. Why does our law allow companies to screw people over like this?

We had a fabulous time at Fright Night. Pity about returning to this.

I don't visit Meadowhall Retail Park or Centertainment on principle anymore because of how people are screwed over by the parking there. I now won't be giving Wickes my business, and more importantly, my Dad won't, who is a local builder and normally spends a great deal in there.

Well if you hadn't made the presumption that your were entitled to park there in the first place .Pay up you were in the wrong. Also i don't think loesing your business will affect them to much.

Sorry to sound smug, but I did what I always do if I take the car into town on a Sunday.

I found a single yellow line and there are plenty of streets with single yellows off West Street.

Obviously, Wickes must be suffering from the credit crunch too if they're having to emply Robin Hood to get some revenue in - even when the business is closed.

Tell them where to shove it.

Actually, it's completely different.
