Guest
what ever happened to the Penthouse I used to look forward to going there for a good headbang. It became Rebels and rocked until around 94 when it closed for good.
Fitkenlike
It was never the same when it changed from the Penthouse. Remember the chick who used to solo dance to Deep purple etc with the corkscrew hair and the sticky carpet and the DJ cant remember his name now. Great days alas never to return
WallBuilder
When the penthouse closed down it became for a short time a trendy night club which I seem to remember was called Dollars. Shefield was ssadly lacking a rock night club which was often lamented about in the wap and so when the Kay gee Bee opened beneath the old Abbeydale picture palace it became very popular even though it was a bit of a ttrek from town. Then rebels opened and as that was a city centre venue and people thought it would be like the old Penthouse people obviously shifted allegiance. However it was soon apparent that Rebels was nothing like the Penthouse and so although it was kept busy as rock was on a wave a lot of the older rockers retreated to the wap or the Grapes and then grumbled because the kay Gee Bee had closed because of falling customer numbers.
