Attercliffe lads

My gran, Florence Beck, lived in Attercliffe all her life before dying at age 74 in 1960. She lived on Coleridge Rd, opposite Gutsons shop and Kings chippy. She referred to city centre as 'Sheffield' but i don't think she ever went there, you could get all you needed down the 'cliffe.

Hope you are both well.

I remember Tony, I have not seen Laura since our divorce in 1971.

I am 68 on Friday the 7th. Have you any contacts from the old days when we all went to the Central (skating ring) dancing. I have not lived in Sheffield since 1977.

My personal e-mail is bobbymeg@sky.com

Glen Pickard was mentioned on here some time ago by Mick Redfearn an Attercliffe lad who passed away a few weeks ago in Chetwynd British Columbia. Apparently Glen emigrated to Canada many years ago and set up a small airline in that country. I went to school at Hartleybrook Secondary modern and Glen was one year above me that would make him about 62/63 now. John Curtain was about the same age as Glen and was the Rugby team captain at Hartleybrook (we had a very good team) won the Price cup. Others in the team wee Dennis Topham, Dave Simmonite, Keith Smith, Bugsy Megson, Mick Lee, as to what happened to to John I regret i have no idea.

I have not heard my old nickname for 60 odd years "Bugsy Megson".

I am still alive 71 now playing golf 4 days a week, past captain of the Pontnewydd Golf Club in Wales and now the Seniors Captain. I remember all of the of the names above. I believe John Curtain is no longer with us.

Keep in touch It would be great to hear about everyone from the past.
