Rise was the place where you arrived with a group of friends and left with at least double that number - mobile numbers and directions to someone’s house scribbled on the back of a cigarette pack; Rise was the place where catching someone’s eye on the dance floor could lead to a lifelong friendship; Rise was the place where boys could wear a daft hat or a pink tutu and the girls were classy, friendly and cool; Rise was the place where the soaring house beat never let up, sweeping you up to the roof and gloriously flinging you around for hour after joyous hour, every tune played with the intention of pushing your night to the boundaries of the experience.

Rise is returning to The Leadmill in all its glory. No detail is being missed, The club will be completely transformed with classic 90's club decor. Podiums, Inflatables, Drapes the works.

There have been a few changes to the line up for the Rise event on December 27th, but we are delighted to have a bigger and better line up than before!

Real Rise legends in the main room in the shape of Hacienda main man Dave Haslam and the fantastic Jon Dasilva.

We are delighted to have the Drum and Bass legend LTJ Bukem playing the main like the old Waxploitation days when he was a resident. Joining LTJ in the back we are delighted to welcome influential Sheffield producer Rob Gordon.

Rob cut his teeth in the local FON studio working with Mark Brydon as FON Force, and also engineering, editing and producing artists such as Krush, Age Of Chance and Pop Will Eat Itself. His time came in 1989 when he helped found Warp Records, through which he released his debut record (along with Shaun Maher and Winston Hazel) as Forgemasters. Through his A&R and production work, he influenced the sound of the label for its first few releases. He also collaborated with several artists, particularly on the Network label, to shape the "Bass and Bleep" sound that combined the techno sound of Detroit with electro and a new, uniquely British experimental minimalism.

Despite recent comments that have been made by certain other smaller promoters in Sheffield, The Leadmill would like to make it clear that the Rise event taking place on December 27th is an authentic Rise event.

These smaller promoters criticising the line up for not being fitting for such an event must be mistaken:

Jon Da Silva has played the event many times in the mid-nineties, as has Dave Haslam. LTJ Bukem was a resident of the 2nd Room when it was called Waxploitation. It is a coup for The Leadmill to have an act like LTJ Bukem alongside local legend Robert Gordon (The original Forgemaster) playing a room of this size that we are very excited about

I have seen both Jon Da Silva and LTJ Bukem dj at rise............both excellent.

It's good that a rise reunion finallly has a line-up that reflects 'rise'.

Good stuff.
